Weeks of psychical and physical abuse from a dark half, then fearing the police will be on his doorstep every day for the murders.
Months of keeping a personified disease in a room on the same floor. (months meaning almost half a year).
Few times madmen popping from random dimensions ,and if not, then at least out of nowhere.
Finding out more than he ever wanted or needed to know about alter ego's, and all the time needing to keep them all alive and somewhat under control.
Once seeing a loved one die in front of him, not being able to do nothing.
-all the time needing to explain everything to his co-workers and friends and keep a facade that nothing unusual is going on.

After half a year of everything, one day...
Yep, I think it was pretty much alright to have a mental breakdown at that point.
